Church Services This Week at Sullivan Hollow Second Ward Weber Heights Stake Ogden Utah June 6-27-2010

Mosiah 4:30
30 But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not awatch yourselves, and your bthoughts, and your cwords, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and dcontinue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not.

We discussed more about Elder Oaks talk from priesthood session of General Conference -Healing the Sick

We should prepare before administering to the sick.

We grow by administering to the sick.

Doctrine and Covenants 84:73
73 But a commandment I give unto them, that they shall not aboast themselves of these things, neither speak them before the world; for these things are given unto you for your profit and for salvation.

Teacher passed out these scriptures and quotes to go with the lesson:
1. 2 Samuel 11:2
2. 2 Samuel 11:3-4
3. 2 Samuel 11:5
4. 2 Samuel 11:6-13
5. 2 Samuel 11:14-17
6. Quote by Elder Richard G. Scott):
"Do not take comfort in the fact that your transgressions are not known by others. That is like an ostrich with his head buried in the sand. He sees only darkness and feels comfortably hidden. In reality he is ridiculously conspicuous. Likewise our every act is seen by our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son. They know everything about us. ...
"If you have seriously transgressed, you will not find any lasting satisfaction or comfort in what you have done. Excusing transgression with a cover-up may appear to fix the problem, but it does not. The tempter is intent on making public your most embarrassing acts at the most harmful time. Lies weave a pattern that is ever more confining and becomes a trap that Satan will spring to your detriment" (in Conference Report, Apr. 1995, 103; or Ensign, May 1995, 77).
7. 2 Samuel 12:1-4
8. 2 Samuel 12:5-6
9. 2 Samuel 12:7-9
10. 2 Samuel 12:13
11. 2 Samuel 12:10-14
12. D&C 132:39
13. Quote by President Marion G. Romney:
"David, ... though highly favored of the Lord (he was, in fact, referred to as a man after God's own heart), yielded to temptation. His unchastity led to murder, and as a consequence, he lost his families and his exaltation" (in Conference Report, Apr. 1979, 60; or Ensign, May 1979, 42).
14. Psalm 51:16-17
15. D&C 58:42

David dwelt in smaller sin and they continued to grow longer until he forfeited his exaltation.

David had many wives.  There was no sin in that because the Lord gave them to him.  The sin with Bathsheba was because she was not given to him.

Missionary that recently returned from the Chile Vina del Mar mission spoke to us.

From the Bulletin:"There is no greater evidence of the infinite power and perfection of God's love than is declared by the Apostle John: 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son' (John 3:16). Another Apostle wrote that God 'spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all' (Romans 8:32). Think how it must have grieved our Heavenly Father to send His Son to endure incomprehensible suffering for our sins. That is the greatest evidence of His love for each of us!" Elder Dallin H. Oaks, "Love and Law," Ensign, Nov., 2009,26.
