Church Services This Week at the Family Session of Stake Conference of the Weber Heights Stake Ogden Utah November 11-7-2010

Member of the mission presidency who grew up in Indiana.  He served in the SLC North Mission that covered everything north of SLC including Ogden and some of Wyoming and he is now serving in much the same mission being a member of the Ogden mission presidency.

The prophet puts certain programs in place at certain times during the history of the world.  Things change and programs that could work better in our day come into being.

There were some speakers that spoke of the youth spectacular that my daughter performed in with several stakes in the area.

Job 19:25
25 For I aknow that my bredeemer liveth, and that che shall dstand at the latter day upon the earth:

1st Article of Faith
1 We abelieve in bGod, the Eternal Father, and in His cSon, Jesus Christ, and in the sHoly Ghost.

4th Article of Faith
4 We believe that the first principles and aordinances of the Gospel are: first, bFaith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, cRepentance; third, dBaptism by eimmersion for the fremission of sins; fourth, Laying on of ghands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost.

Joshua 1:9
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the aLord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Harold B. Lee, "Message from the First Presidency: Preparing Our Youth", Ensign, Mar. 1971, 2
“It seems clear to me that the Church has no choice—and never has had—but to do more to assist the family in carrying out its divine mission, not only because that is the order of heaven, but also because that is the most practical contribution we can make to our youth—to help improve the quality of life in the Latter-day Saint homes. As important as our many programs and organizational efforts are, these should not supplant the home; they should support the home.”

2 Nephi 2:26
26 And the aMessiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may bredeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are credeemed from the fall they have become dfree forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the elaw at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, in Conference Report, Oct. 1989, 94; or Ensign, Nov. 1989, 75
“The Lord has given you the gift of agency (see Moses 7:32) and instructed you sufficiently to know good from evil (see 2 Nephi 2:5). You are free to choose (see 2 Nephi 2:27) and are permitted to act (see 2 Nephi 10:23; Helaman 14:30), but you are not free to choose the consequences. With absolute certainty, choices of good and right lead to happiness and peace, while choices of sin and evil eventually lead to unhappiness, sorrow, and misery”

All good things require effort.

Going to church should be more meaningful to each of us than just showing up.

Doctrine and Covenants 1:37
37 aSearch these bcommandments, for they are true and cfaithful, and the prophecies and dpromises which are in them shall all be fulfilled.

Your life is different today than it was five years ago, so the scriptures have different meaning to us than they did then or we see different things in them than we did then.

Luke 6:48
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-19
18 Whatever principle of aintelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the bresurrection.
19 And if a person gains more aknowledge and intelligence in this life through his bdiligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the cadvantage in the world to come.

Doctrine and Covenants 93:38
38 Every aspirit of man was binnocent in the beginning; and God having credeemed man from the dfall, men became again, in their infant state, einnocent before God.

Doctrine and Covenants 88:118
118 And as all have not afaith, seek ye diligently and bteach one another words of cwisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best dbookswords of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.

Doctrine and Covenants 11:21
21 Seek not to adeclare my word, but first seek to bobtain my cword, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my dSpirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the econvincing of men.

Ezekial 37:16-19
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one astick, and bwriteupon it, For cJudah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and dwrite upon it, For eJoseph, the fstick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become aone in thine hand.
18 ¶And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us awhat thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of aJoseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
