Sacrament Service
First Speaker
Finding joy in Jesus Christ.
There is a difference between having fun and having joy.
“Interestingly, our gospel perspective helps us to understand that joy is more than a fleeting feeling or emotion; rather, it is a spiritual gift and a state of being and becoming” (Elder David A Bednar, “That They Might Have Joy”, BYU Speech 4 Dec 2018)
John 15:4
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
“Keep your covenants with God, and prepare to make more.” (For the Strength of Youth manual)
3 Nephi 4:33
33 And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction.

The covenant path leads us to God. Some might find the path restrictive, but the path is protection along our journey.
DnC 82:10
10 I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise.
Mosiah 2:41
41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

“With our trust and faith in God, trials and afflictions can be consecrated for our good.” (Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “All Things for Our Good”, April 2024 General Conference)
“We increase faith and trust in the Lord that all things can work together for our good as we gain eternal perspective; understand our trials may be “but for a small moment”; recognize affliction can be consecrated for our gain; acknowledge accidents, untimely death, debilitating illness, and disease are part of mortality; and trust loving Heavenly Father does not give trials to punish or judge.” (Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “All Things for Our Good”, April 2024 General Conference)
Elders Quorum
Lesson was based on the following lessons: Jesus Christ at the Center of Our Lives - Jose L. Alonso: The Testimony of Jesus - D. Todd Christofferson
“I know that Jesus Christ gave His life so that we might have eternal life.”
“After all the years that I have lived and taught and served, after the millions of miles I have traveled around the world, with all that I have experienced, there is one great truth that I would share. That is my witness of the Savior Jesus Christ.
“Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon recorded the following after a sacred experience:
“‘And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!
“‘For we saw him’ (D&C 76:22–23).
“Their words are my words.” (President Boyd K. Packer, “The Witness”, April 2014)
Moroni 7:45-47
45 And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
DnC 136:31
31 My people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them, even the glory of Zion; and he that will not bear chastisement is not worthy of my kingdom.
