Numbers 12:5-9

  5 And the Lord came down in the ^apillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

  6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a ^aprophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a^bvision, and will speak unto him in a ^cdream.

  7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

  8 With him will I ^aspeak ^bmouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he^cbehold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

  9 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and he departed.

1 Nephi 17:41

  41 And he did straiten them in the wilderness with his rod; for they ^ahardened their hearts, even as ye have; and the Lord straitened them because of their iniquity. He sent fiery flying ^bserpents among them; and after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be ^chealed; and the labor which they had to perform was to look; and because of the ^dsimpleness of the way, or the easiness of it, there were many who perished.

Aaron and Miriam were stating that they were getting revelation much like some around Joseph smith had done.

"There are three basic lessons the full-time missionaries teach: the Restoration, the plan of salvation, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. How prepared are you to give witness and testimony to the truthfulness of these very basic lessons?" (Elder L. Tom Perry, The Past Way of Facing the Future, October 2009 General Conference)

Doctrine and Covenants 100:5-7

  5 Therefore, verily I say unto you, lift up your voices unto this people; ^aspeak the thoughts that I shall put into your hearts, and you shall not be ^bconfounded before men;

  6 For it shall be ^agiven you in the very hour, yea, in the very moment, what ye shall say.

  7 But a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall declare whatsoever thing ye ^adeclare in my name, in solemnity of heart, in the spirit of meekness, in all things.

"More and more the world is filled with chaos and confusion. Messages surround us which contradict all that we hold dear—enticing us to turn from that which is “virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy” (Articles of Faith 1:13) and embrace the thinking which often prevails outside the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, when our families are united in purpose, and an atmosphere of peace and love prevails, home becomes a sanctuary from the world." (President Thomas S. The key to missionary work is to expand our knowledge and strengthen our testimonies.
