Trust means to obey willingly without knowing the beginning from the end.

“Trust becomes real when we do hard things with faith. Service and sacrifice increase capacity and refine hearts. Trust in God and each other brings heaven’s blessings.” (Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “Trust Again”, October 2021 General Conference)

“When you face adversity, you can be led to ask many questions. Some serve a useful purpose; others do not. To ask, Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this, now? What have I done to cause this? will lead you into blind alleys. It really does no good to ask questions that reflect opposition to the will of God. Rather ask, What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial? Willing sacrifice of deeply held personal desires in favor of the will of God is very hard to do. Yet, when you pray with real conviction, “Please let me know Thy will” and “May Thy will be done,” you are in the strongest position to receive the maximum help from your loving Father.” (Elder Richard G. Scott, “Trust in the Lord”, October 1995 General Conference)

“When those trials are not consequences of your disobedience, they are evidence that the Lord feels you are prepared to grow more (see Prov. 3:11–12). He therefore gives you experiences that stimulate growth, understanding, and compassion which polish you for your everlasting benefit. To get you from where you are to where He wants you to be requires a lot of stretching, and that generally entails discomfort and pain.” (Elder Richard G. Scott, “Trust in the Lord”, October 1995 General Conference)

“May I suggest three ways to increase our knowledge of and trust in the Savior. You will find that these principles are not new, but they are foundational. They are sung in every Primary, echoed in Young Women lessons, and are responses to many Relief Society questions. They are centering—and not leaning—principles.

“First, we can come to know the Lord and trust Him as we ‘feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.’”

“Second, we can come to know the Lord and trust Him through prayer.”

“Third, we can come to know the Lord and trust Him as we serve others.”

Prayer allows angels to attend us. We have to learn to use our agency. Deliverance from our trials are not as important as our learning to use our agency.

Abraham 3:25

25 And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;

Doctrine and Covenants 121 :1

1 O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?

Often while we are being proved, we have to wait for the Lord’s timing.

“Brothers and sisters, the gospel of Jesus Christ has never been needed more than it is today. Contention violates everything the Savior stood for and taught.” (President Russell M. Nelson, “Preaching the Gospel of Peace”, April 2022 General Conference)

Everyone in the church needs to be contributing with their effort in some way.

“The Lord knows you…you will have experiences that will help you come to know Him better. You will grow spiritually in serving Him. In His name, you will be sent on errands to serve others. He will give you experiences with promptings from the Holy Ghost. The Lord will authorize you to teach in His name. You can show Him that He can trust you and can rely on you.”(President M. Russell Ballard, “Missionary Service Blessed My Life Forever”, April 2022 General Conference)

Nehemiah was the cupbearer of the king. He was so valiant that the king granted his desire to rebuild the temple.

Daniel 3

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Similar to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, the Pioneer saints sang the words from the hymn “Come, Come Ye Saints”.

Come, come, ye Saints, no toil nor labor fear;”...”Though hard to you this journey may appear,”...”Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?”...”Why should we think to earn a great reward, If we now shun the fight?”...”And should we die before our journey’s through,”...”We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;”

Not just thou shalt kill, but thou shalt respect life.

Moses 1:39

39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

Religious Freedom

"There is another scourge sweeping the globe: attacks on your and my religious freedom. This growing sentiment seeks to remove religion and faith in God from the public square, schools, community standards, and civic discourse. Opponents of religious freedom seek to impose restrictions on expressions of heartfelt convictions. They even criticize and ridicule faith traditions."

"What is religious freedom?

“It is freedom of worship in all its configurations: freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, freedom to act on personal beliefs, and freedom for others to do the same. Religious freedom allows each of us to decide for ourselves what we believe, how we live and act according to our faith, and what God expects of us."

If we fight with each other, we can't learn from each other.

Our job is to feed and water the seeds of faith. If we harvest too quickly, we ruin the plant. If we fertilize and water and immediately try to harvest, the harvest will be wet manure.

"I come to you today with a plea to strengthen our families."

“President Joseph F. Smith said: ‘To be a successful father or a successful mother is greater than to be a successful general or a successful statesman …, ‘”

“President Harold B. Lee said only yesterday, 'The Church must do more to help the home carry out its divine mission.’”

“President Joseph Fielding Smith has stated that never ‘in the history of the Church have there been so many temptations, so many pitfalls, so many dangers, to lure away the members of the Church from the path of duty and from righteousness as we find today.’ (Take Heed to Yourselves, p. 127.)” (“A Plea to Strengthen Our Families”, Elder Ezra Taft Benson. General Conference, October 1970)

“We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”

“Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children.”

“Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.” (THE FAMILY A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD)

“During the recent war years 108,787 boys and girls under eighteen years of age were under arrest, more than those

of any other age group. Behavior of this type is not natural in youngsters; it grows out of some cause. As J. Edgar

Hoover puts it: ‘The actions of the majority of them were--and are--directly related to the conduct of their parents.

….parental, not juvenile delinquency.’ (John Edgar Hoover, Director Federal Bureau ofInvestigation, U. S. Department of Justice, How Good a Parent Are You? Reprinted from and with permission of This Week Magazine, April 20, 1947)” (“Christian Education in the Family”, Myrna I. Bertels,Butler University, 1-1-1948)

“the actions of a majority of [juvenile delinquents] were, and are, directly related to the conduct of their parents.” - J Edgar Hoover

“No nation rises above its homes. In building character the church, the school, and even the nation stand helpless when confronted with a weakened and degraded home. The good home is the rock foundation—the cornerstone of civilization. There can be no genuine happiness separate and apart from a good home, with the old-fashioned virtues at its base. If your nation is to endure, the home must be safeguarded, strengthened, and restored to its rightful importance” (Elder Ezra Taft Benson, in Conference Report, April 1966, 130).

Dnc 53:2

Elders Quorum

The lesson was based on the talk “Our Heartfelt All” by Elder Uchtdorf

“What does this mean for us as disciples of Jesus Christ? It means that if we want to find balance in life, and if we want the Savior to lift us heavenward, then our commitment to Him and His gospel can’t be casual or occasional. Like the widow at Jerusalem, we must offer Him our whole souls. Our offering may be small, but it must come from our heart and soul.”

Some said,  God gave us the commandments to keep us free.  It reminds me of the purpose of The Constitution of the United States.

Elijah is called Elias in the New Testament. Sometimes Elias is a name and sometimes it is a title.

Sacrifice is preparatory to consecration. Sacrifice is the terrestrial law. Consecration is the celestial law.

1 Kings 18:21

21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

1 Kings 19:11-12

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
