Elders Quorum
The lesson was based on David Beck’s talk "Your Sacred Duty to Minister" from April 2013 general conference.
"Carson agreed to help, but in his heart he felt that he could do much more than just identify the bullies. The Spirit whispered to him that he needed to help Chy feel loved."
High school kids often look to the football team as strong. Their example gave their class a different definition of strong.
The Aaronic Priesthood
Doctrine and Covenants 13:1
1 Upon you my fellow servants, in the name of Messiah I confer the Priesthood of Aaron, which holds the keys of the ministering of angels, and of the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; and this shall never be taken again from the earth, until the sons of Levi do offer again an offering unto the Lord in righteousness.
The Aaronic Priesthood is called the lesser Priesthood, but our home teaching responsibilities come from us holding the duties of a teacher. People can not be married in the temple if they are not baptized, which baptism is a duty of a priest.
Sunday School
Old Testament Lesson 28
Elijah was fed by what ravens brought and he was thankful. It would be easy to perhaps not be thankful for raven scraps, but he was grateful.
We often think we would give so much if we had a million dollars or if we were retired we would spend more time on serving or on spending time teaching our children. How much more blessed are we when we do these things when we aren't rich and don't have a lot of extra time.
"When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities." (President Ezra Taft Benson, The Great Commandment—Love the Lord, April 1988 General Conference)
Elijah was frustrated at feeling alone like he was the only believer. It was easy to feel that way when I lived outside Utah.
