Church Services This Week at Oak Ridge Ward Layton North Stake Layton Utah 3 July 2016

Sacrament Service
Several of the youth went on pioneer trek and to scout camp this weekend.  The trek kids got stranded because the buses that the stake contracted to pick them up never showed up. There were several testimonies today about trek and how them being stranded was symbolic of when the Martin and Willie handcart companies got stranded.  It was pretty touching.

Sunday School
Book of Mormon Lesson 20
Alma 5-7
Alma split the office of prophet and chief judge,  so he can devote more time to being prophet and be among the people.

Alma brought the people together to remind them of their heritage, much like we do when the youth have Trek or when we put on pageants or when the church puts so many resources into historic sites.

The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature.“ (President Ezra Taft Benson, “Born of God”, October 1985 General Conference)

We believe in Christ, but do we believe Christ?

Repentance is not an act. It is a process.

Elders Quorum
The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” — Attributed to Mark Twain, but likely not Twain.

Moses 1:39
39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

What is our duty or main purpose in being priesthood holders?

2 Nephi 2:25
25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

Many people do not catch religion like a football, but like catching a cold.
