Church Services This Week at Oak Ridge Ward Layton North Stake Layton Utah 12 January 2020

Sacrament Service

Bulletin

“When we reach out to others, we can know with humble confidence that God acknowledges our service with approval and approbation. He smiles upon us as we offer these heartfelt acts of compassion, especially acts that are unseen and unnoticed by others.” (Elder Dieter F Uchtdorf, The Greatest Among You, April 2017 General Conference)

First Speaker

Someone that recently returned from serving a mission in the Kansas Wichita Mission spoke to us.

Deception, distractions, and discouragement are the tools Satan uses to shake our faith.

“The adversary’s design is to distract us from spiritual witnesses, while the Lord’s desire is to enlighten and engage us in His work.” (Ronald A. Rasband, “Lest Thou Forget,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2016, 115.)

We watched the video of Elder Jeffrey R Holland, “The Savior Understands Me”.

Salvation is a very personal matter.

Next Speaker

Read and pray.

Elders Quorum

The lesson was based on the October 2019 General Conference talk by Elder Jorge M. Alvarado After the Trial of Our Faith.

Hebrews 11:1

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Alma 32:21

21 And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

Enos 1:3

3 Behold, I went to hunt beasts in the forests; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the joy of the saints, sunk deep into my heart.

God allows things not because he is mean, but because he lives is and wants us to learn and he knows it is temporary, even if it is for our whole life.
