Church Services This Week at Oak Ridge Ward Layton North Stake Layton Utah 24 Jul 2022

Sacrament Service

Nehemiah was the cupbearer of the king. He was so valiant that the king granted his desire to rebuild the temple.

Daniel 3

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Similar to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, the Pioneer saints sang the words from the hymn “Come, Come Ye Saints”.

Come, come, ye Saints, no toil nor labor fear;”...”Though hard to you this journey may appear,”...”Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?”...”Why should we think to earn a great reward, If we now shun the fight?”...”And should we die before our journey’s through,”...”We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;”

Not just thou shalt kill, but thou shalt respect life.

Moses 1:39

39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

Religious Freedom

"There is another scourge sweeping the globe: attacks on your and my religious freedom. This growing sentiment seeks to remove religion and faith in God from the public square, schools, community standards, and civic discourse. Opponents of religious freedom seek to impose restrictions on expressions of heartfelt convictions. They even criticize and ridicule faith traditions."

"What is religious freedom?

“It is freedom of worship in all its configurations: freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, freedom to act on personal beliefs, and freedom for others to do the same. Religious freedom allows each of us to decide for ourselves what we believe, how we live and act according to our faith, and what God expects of us."

If we fight with each other, we can't learn from each other.

Our job is to feed and water the seeds of faith. If we harvest too quickly, we ruin the plant. If we fertilize and water and immediately try to harvest, the harvest will be wet manure.
