A sister who is leaving soon for the Texas San Antonio Mission Spanish speaking spoke to us.

“Our faith in Jesus Christ needs to be nourished daily. It is nourished as we pray daily, study the scriptures daily, reflect on the goodness of God daily, repent daily, and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost daily. Just as it is not healthy to defer eating all our food until Sunday and then binge our weekly allotment of nutrition, it is not spiritually healthy to restrict our testimony-nourishing behavior to one day in the week.” (Elder Dale G. We should look forward to feeling our soul.

John 6

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

48 I am that bread of life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

2 Nephi 31:20

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Galatians 6:7

Spiritual nourishment does not fall in our laps.  We have to seek it out.

Alma 37:6

6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

Faith is action.

Faith is endurance and not a one time experience.

77 According to the laws and constitution of the people, which I have suffered to be established, and should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh, according to just and holy principles;

Agency is fundamental to God's plan of happiness. 

The principles in the declaration of independence and constitution protect and promote moral agency. The documents were divinely inspired. 

Life and liberty are a divine birthright. 

Pursuit of happiness is the pursuit to be good and not to feel good. Or the pursuit of virtue. The pursuit of virtue is a right. 

The Constitution was designed to be a living document. 

Dnc 101:79

79 Therefore, it is not right that any man should be in bondage one to another.

The first amendment to the constitution was the guarantee of the free exercise of religion. 

That is also one of our articles of faith. 

Our loyalty is to the constitution, not to our rulers. 

We should pray for our government leaders. Especially, the ones we disagree with.

Judges 21

25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Covenant keeping relationship with God will bring true lasting joy.

A sister missionary from Wasilla, Alaska spoke to us.

She mentioned the children’s song, “I Will Walk With Jesus”.

“Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory. But in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” (President Russell M. We never have to walk life alone.

Moroni 7

12 Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God; and that which is evil cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually.

13 But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.

Alma 26

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

Philippians 4

2 Nephi 4:19-21

19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted.

20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.

21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.

It is not enough to know that God is there.  We have to rely on Him.

42 Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope.

Moroni 7:41

41 And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise.

Lasting hope is not in worldly institutions.

Hope follows faith.

Alma 32:21

Ether 12:4

Alma 34

9 For it is expedient that an atonement should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; yea, all are hardened; yea, all are fallen and are lost, and must perish except it be through the atonement which it is expedient should be made.

Jesus made it possible for us to overcome sin and death and live with God again.

Proverbs 31:28

28 [A virtuous woman] Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Mothers may not like our actions, but they love us anyway.  That is true for Jesus as well, but even more perfectly.

Isaiah 66:13

13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

John 19:26-27

26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Exodus 20

12 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

How do you know what you know?  Spend time thinking about how you gained your testimony and how you learned the things you know.

John 9 

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
