Olive trees are not deciduous.
Olives are bitter and take a lot of salt and vinegar over and over to purge the bitterness.
Gethsemane means oil press.
The angel came and strengthened Jesus during his suffering in the garden, but did not deliver him from it.
The teacher quoted from The Olive Press, By Truman G. Madsen, Ensign » 1982 » December
How does prayer strengthen us in temptation?
-Invites the spirit.
-When you are tempted you may be alone in fighting that temptation, when you pray you are no longer alone.
The angel only came to the savior after he committed to go through with the atonement, then he was comforted. Much like us, we receive comfort as we accept and work through our trials.
Mosiah 19:16-17
16 And now there was one of the sons of the king among those that were taken captive, whose name was Limhi.
17 And now Limhi was desirous that his father should not be destroyed; nevertheless, Limhi was not ignorant of the iniquities of his father, he himself being a just man.

From the Bulletin
"We are all a part of America's future. Our job is to learn and benefit from the past and to go forward in righteousness, keeping the commandments of God... the prophet Lehi said, "Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever." (2Ne, 1:7.) ...As we pray daily to God for guidance, we should all make the same plea as George Washington did in his prayer for our country: "Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage, we humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will Endue with the spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be peace and justice at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.. All of which we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen." Elder N. Eldon Tanner, "If They Will But Serve the God of the Land, New Era, Jul 1977, 36.
