Church Services This Week at Oak Ridge Ward Layton North Stake Layton Utah 13 June 2021

Sacrament Service

First Speaker

The speaker shared that when she had Covid one of her neighbors told her that the neighbors husband doesn’t pray, but he wanted to learn, so he could pray for her to recover from Covid.  He began taking turns with his wife praying for her recovery.

John 15:12

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Next Speaker

3 Nephi 11:29-20

29 For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another.

30 Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger, one against another; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.

the discussion this week on "Infuriating Unfairness" By Elder Dale G. Renlund

Thankfully, life is not fair. It would be harsh if we got what we deserved.

The Church often provides privilege for people that have none. A brother shared that he lost his father at 12 years old and the Church provided an environment where he was able to develop relationships with two father figures.

Trials are the point of this life. If the Lord removed our trials that would be unfair. If others kept their trials and grow, while ours are removed and do not benefit from those opportunities, that is not fair. We would be stunted in our growth.

In a family that gets hand me down clothes, the fairness is not that everyone has something new, but that everyone has something to wear.

"How we deal with advantages and disadvantages is part of life’s test. We will be judged not so much by what we say but by how we treat the vulnerable and disadvantaged." - Renlund
